12 DAYS CASABLANCA TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1Casablanca – Transfer to the hotel

Welcome to Morocco! Upon your arrival at Casablanca Mohammed V Airport, you’ll be greeted and taken to your hotel, where a brief tour overview will be provided.

Then, head to the capital, Rabat, for an overnight stay with dinner at your hotel or Riad.

Day 2 Casablanca » Rabat » Meknes » Fes [338 Km]

Departure for Fes takes us through picturesque farmlands where olives, grains, vegetables, and grapes are cultivated.

On the way, we will stop at Meknes and Volubilis. Volubilis features renowned Roman ruins, remnants of the southernmost outpost of the Roman Empire. Meknes is home to the first Arab dynasty established by Moulay Ismail, including Medersa Bou Inania and the Bab Mansour, which leads to the Moulay Ismail Palace.

Next, we’ll explore the Henri Es-Souani, where you’ll find horse stables and granaries. There’s a rooftop garden and café offering stunning views of the city. Finally, we’ll arrive in Fes and check into the hotel.

Day 3Fes Sightseeing tour with a local guide

After breakfast, a local guide will take you to explore the world’s oldest living Medina.

You’ll visit its bustling souks, the Royal Palace entrance, the 9th-century Karouine Mosque, and the university, as well as the tomb of Moulay Idriss II, the city’s founder.

Lunch will be at a traditional restaurant in the Medina. Post-lunch, you’ll see the Najarine Fountain, the old Harem Garden, and the Batha Museum, concluding with a panoramic city view on your return to the hotel.

Day 4 Fes » Rif Mountains » Chefchaouen » Fes [252 km]

After breakfast in your Riad or Hotel around 8 AM we will start your day trip toward Chefchaouen (the blue city) which is a Morocco popular tourist attraction and welcoming town situated in the Rif Mountains just south of the Mediterranean coastline in northwest Morocco.

This nice blue city is known for its traditional buildings. Enjoy a walk to explore the white and blue-washed walls of the medina and the markets that offer some unique native handicrafts. Chefchaouen is a fantastic destination for photography with its wonderful views of the Rif Mountains. Back to Fez in the afternoon. Expected to get to Fes around 07:00 PM.

 

Day 5 Fes » Ifrane » Azrou » Ziz Valley » Erfoud » Merzouga [460 km]

After breakfast, we will embark on our journey from Merzouga, crossing the Atlas Mountains. We’ll pass through Ifrane and the cedar forests of Azrou, where you can spot wild monkeys—a great opportunity for photos. Lunch will be in the small Berber village of Zaida.

As we continue through the Atlas Mountains, we’ll enjoy the scenic views of Medilt before arriving in Rich and Erfoud, where the Tafilalet oasis begins. Finally, we’ll reach Merzouga and spend the night at a hotel near the sand dunes.

Day 6Merzouga » Berber Families » Black Desert » Merzouga [45 km]

After breakfast at the hotel, begin your exploration of the Sahara Desert by visiting Khamlia, a village originally inhabited by Sudanese slaves, where you can experience their unique music and culture.

Nearby, you can visit Lake Merzouga, home to various bird species, including flamingos. Consider stopping by a Berber nomad’s wire house to find handicrafts at lower prices than in larger cities.

In the afternoon, embark on a camel ride guided by an experienced camel driver to discover the enchanting Erg-Chebbi sand dunes. You’ll spend your first night under the stars or in a traditional Berber tent, with dinner served in the tent. Enjoy dinner, bed, and breakfast.

Day 7Merzouga » Errissani » Jorf » Todra Gorges » Dades Valley [255 km]

We’ll rise early to witness the stunning sunrise, where the colors of the dunes blend with shifting shadows.

After enjoying a cup of tea, we can ride camels for a couple of hours, then head to the Kasbah for breakfast and a shower before departing for Rissani in the Tafilalt region.

Rissani, located at the Ziz Valley’s edge, is a traditional desert village home to the impressive Mausoleum of Moulay Ali Sharif, the first ruler of the Alawite dynasty from the 17th century.

Next, we’ll explore the breathtaking Todra Gorges and the eastern slopes of the Atlas Mountains, arriving at Tinerhir Oasis, known for its palm-filled valley and local villages. We will then take a scenic drive through the Dades Valley, also known as the ‘Valley of 1000 Kasbahs,’ and spend the night there.

Day 8Dades Valley » Skoura » Ouarzazate » High Atlas » Marrakech [326 km]

After breakfast at the hotel this morning, we will head to Ouarzazate via Skoura, stopping for a panoramic view of the Taourirt kasbah and a photo op near the Atlas Film Studios.

Next, we’ll visit the Ait Benhaddou kasbah and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we’ll drive to Marrakech, crossing the Tizi N’tichka pass (2,260 m). Drop-off in Marrakech.

Day 9Marrakech Sightseeing tour with a local guide

Experience a full-day tour of Marrakech, starting with a visit to the Menara, a pool surrounded by flowerbeds that irrigate nearby fields.

The tour includes notable attractions like the Koutoubia Mosque, Majorelle Gardens, Bahia Palace, and the Dar Si Said Museum of Jewelry. Enjoy an optional lunch in the medina, followed by a stroll through Marrakech’s vibrant souks.

End your day with a sunset drink on a café terrace overlooking the lively Jamaa El Fna Square, followed by dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 10Marrakech » Ouzoud Waterfalls » Marrakech [156 km]

One day trip from Marrakech to Ouzoud Waterfalls starting from Marrakech in the morning to Ouzoud Waterfalls, this site is located about 170 km from Marrakech, northeast of the city, you will discover the beautiful waterfalls of about 110 m high and a beautiful landscape full of birds and monkeys.

You will discover the magnificent waterfalls about 110 m in height and a wonderful landscape populated with birds and monkeys on arrival if you like you can negotiate the services of a local guide to make walks or hikes at a height of 1068m.

 

Day 11Marrakech » Essaouira [191 km]

After breakfast, you’ll head to Essaouira, a charming fishing town on Morocco’s southwest coast. With a stunning beach to the south, it’s become a favorite destination, home to many talented woodcarvers and artists.

Day 12Essaouira » Airport [191.3 km]/[371 km]

Transfer from Essaouira to the airport (Marrakech or Casablanca), concluding the 12-day tour starting in Casablanca.

Is this a private tour or with a group?

Yes, it’s a shared tour. You will travel with a small group from around the world.

What should I pack for the tour?

Comfortable clothing and footwear, sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, and a camera are recommended.

Are bathrooms private in the second night hotel?

Yes, they are. Your hotel room will have private ensuite bathrooms.

How long id the camel ride in Erg Chebbi?

It is roughly 1 hour for sunset and another hour for sunrise the following day. Time depends on season, Day light saving time, and sunset/sunrise time.

What if we want to skip the camel ride in Erg Chebbi?

You can. a 4×4 will be offered to transfer you from Merzouga lodge to Erg Chebbi desert camp for an extra fee of 30 Euros ( Included in luxury tent option )

Is sand boarding is included?

There will be a few sand boards available at the camp operator’s lodge to use at leisure ( Availability not guaranteed ). You can ask for one to take to the camp with you. They are free of charge
