3 DAYS TOUR MARRAKECH TO MERZOUGA DESERT ITINERARY

Day 1Marrakech » Ait Ben Haddou & Ouarzazate » Dades Valley [315 Km]

Tizi Ntichka Pass and the High Atlas Mountains. Several stops will be made along the way, including a visit to the UNESCO-listed Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, the most famous Ksar in the Ounila Valley. This site has been featured in numerous films, such as Lawrence of Arabia (1962), The Jewel of the Nile (1985), Gladiator, and Game of Thrones.

Added to UNESCO’s World Heritage list in 1987, Ait Ben Haddou is renowned for its rich history and striking appearance.

The tour continues to Ouarzazate, with a visit to the famous Kasbah Taourirte, followed by a leisurely lunch.

In the afternoon, we drive through the Valley of the Roses to Boumalne Dades. You will stay overnight at a traditional riad in the Dades Valley, with dinner included.

Day 2Dades » Todra Gorges » Merzouga (Night in Desert Camp) [255 km]

Today, after breakfast and a shower at the hotel/Riad, we’ll continue our 3-day desert tour through the Todra Gorge, the highest in Morocco, known for its cliffs and river. Passing palm trees, wheat fields, and old kasbahs, we’ll head towards Erfoud, crossing Berber villages of southern Morocco, and finally reach Merzouga.

Here, camels will take us on a journey through the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. We’ll enjoy a hearty dinner and stay in a Berber tent at a desert camp, a stunning spot to witness the sunset, sunrise, and a starry sky.

Day 3Merzouga » N'kob » Agdz » High Atlas Mountains » Marrakech [562 Km]

In the early morning, you can wake up to watch the sunrise. After breakfast and a shower at the camp, you can either return to the starting point by camel or opt for a 4WD transfer.

We will then begin our journey back to Marrakech, taking a different route through Rissani, Alnif, Tazarine, N’kob, and Agdz (Draa Valley), with a stop for lunch along the way. We’ll continue to Marrakech via the High Atlas mountains, marking the end of your 3-day tour from Marrakech to the Merzouga desert.

Yes, it’s a shared tour. You will travel with a small group from around the world.

What should I pack for the tour?

Comfortable clothing and footwear, sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, and a camera are recommended.

Are bathrooms private in the second night hotel?

Yes, they are. Your hotel room will have private ensuite bathrooms.

How long id the camel ride in Erg Chebbi?

It is roughly 1 hour for sunset and another hour for sunrise the following day. Time depends on season, Day light saving time, and sunset/sunrise time.

What if we want to skip the camel ride in Erg Chebbi?

You can. a 4×4 will be offered to transfer you from Merzouga lodge to Erg Chebbi desert camp for an extra fee of 30 Euros ( Included in luxury tent option )

Is sand boarding is included?

There will be a few sand boards available at the camp operator’s lodge to use at leisure ( Availability not guaranteed ). You can ask for one to take to the camp with you. They are free of charge
