Our 3-day tour from Fez to Merzouga starts at your hotel or riad. We’ll drive through the Middle Atlas and cedar forests, passing Ifrane, a renowned ski resort, and Midelt, known for its minerals and apples. We continue through the Ziz Valley to Erfoud, famous for fossils, and then Rissani.
Upon reaching the Erg Chebbi desert, we’ll meet our guide and prepare for a camel ride across the dunes. We’ll spend the night at a Sahara desert camp, concluding the first day of our tour.
On the second day of the 3-Day Fes to Merzouga Desert Tour, rise early to witness the breathtaking desert sunrise and enjoy the serene silence of the Sahara. This magical moment showcases the stunning colors of the dunes as the sun ascends.
After returning to camp for a hearty breakfast and a refreshing shower, you’ll ride your camel back to the departure point. We’ll then begin your Merzouga desert tour, exploring key sites around Erg Chebbi dunes, including the seasonal Lake Sirji, Khamlia village for GNAWA music, and local mines for various stones known as “Mefes,” finishing with a visit to nomad families.
Arrive in the afternoon for free time before your overnight stay at a local hotel or Riad in Merzouga.
Today, you’ll bid farewell to the desert, carrying wonderful memories as you head to Fes. You’ll pass through the Rissani Market, the largest souk in the area, then visit Erfoud, a small town famous for its marble and fossil carvings. Enjoy the stunning views of the Ziz Valley and palm groves as you travel to Midelt, known for its apple production.
You may stop for lunch at a restaurant or in the nearby town of Zaida.
Afterward, continue towards Fes, stopping at the Azrou cedar forest. You should arrive in Fes around 6 p.m., where you’ll be dropped off at your accommodation, marking the end of our 3-Day Tour from Fes to the Merzouga Desert.
