We’ll depart from Fez and travel to Merzouga, crossing the Middle Atlas mountains and its cedar forests, which stretch for 350 kilometers across Morocco.
Along the way, we’ll pass through towns like Ifrane, known as the ‘Moroccan Switzerland’ for its chalet-style homes and exclusive ski resorts, and Azrou, a prominent Berber town.
During our 2-day journey from Fes to Marrakech, we’ll also pass through the Ziz Valley, the Ziz Gorges, and towns like Midelt and Erfoud. From Erfoud, we’ll take a desert road to Merzouga.
At sunset, we’ll ride camels to the camp, where we’ll enjoy a traditional dinner and spend the night under the dunes.
Upon waking, you’ll witness the stunning sunrise over the Merzouga dunes. Afterward, a camel ride takes you to a hotel for a refreshing wash and breakfast, preparing you for the day’s journey.
Back on the road, you’ll travel through the Tafilalet Palm Grove and pass by Rissani, the hometown of Morocco’s royal family, before arriving in Alnif. You’ll then cross the majestic Anti-Atlas mountains, visiting Berber villages like Tazarine and N’kob, as well as the vast Draa Valley with its sprawling date palms.
After passing the Tizi N’Tnifift mountain pass, you’ll reach Ouarzazate for lunch. Depending on the season, you’ll either briefly explore the famous Ait Ben Haddou kasbah or simply stop for a visit. By around 7:00 PM, you’ll arrive back in Marrakech, concluding your two-day journey from Fes via the Sahara desert.

It is roughly 1 hour for sunset and another hour for sunrise the following day. Time depends on season, Day light saving time, and sunset/sunrise time.
You can. a 4×4 will be offered to transfer you from Merzouga lodge to Erg Chebbi desert camp for an extra fee of 30 Euros ( Included in luxury tent option )
There will be a few sand boards available at the camp operator’s lodge to use at leisure ( Availability not guaranteed ). You can ask for one to take to the camp with you. They are free of charge
