Experience the tranquility and timeless beauty of desert life with the Sunset Camel Ride in Merzouga. This guided tour departs from the village of Merzouga, allowing you to saddle up on a camel and journey across the stunning Erg Chebbi sand dunes, culminating in a breathtaking sunset amidst the Sahara Desert.
The Merzouga Sunset Camel Trekking Tour typically starts around 5:30 PM. After approximately half an hour of camel riding, we’ll arrive at the dunes, where we’ll dismount and trek about 80 meters to reach the highest dune in Merzouga.
At Morocco Tours Agency, we offer tailored Sunset Camel Trekking tours to suit everyone—whether you’re part of a group, a family, students, couples, or friends looking to enjoy a memorable day together.
The Merzouga sunset camel trek tour starts at least 1 hour before sunset time. It takes almost half an hour to reach the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi on a camel.
Then, we will leave the camels and in about 80 meters we will reach the highest dune of Erg Chebbi Merzouga. For those who want to see a panoramic view, they must climb to the top.
Climbing to the top takes another 10 minutes. If you prefer not to climb the higher dunes, the area around the “parking lot” of the camel is perfect for watching the sunset. After enjoying the sunset, return to the village, stopping in the gardens (as you wish).
After having enjoyed this short time, we returned to the village before nightfall.
A trip to the desert in Morocco is not complete without a camel trek in the dunes. For those who are fascinated by the caravans which crossed the African deserts between mythical cities transporting wanted products like salt, this is the opportunity to feel like a nomad for a few moments.
It is a journey well worth the effort and you will have fond memories to lose yourself forever. Imagine yourself on top of a camel, trekking through the Sahara desert.
There is nothing around you and you can hear are the footsteps of the camel on the soft sand. The sky is vast and clear in the day and filled with millions of bright stars at night. It is a very peaceful experience, one rarely known to most of the visitors.
