10 DAYS MARRAKECH SAHARA DESERT TRIP ITINERARY

Day 1Welcome to Marrakech: transfer to your Hotel / Riad

A 10-day private tour from Marrakech begins with a transfer to your hotel, followed by exploring the city’s main attractions. You’ll visit key sights such as Jamma el Fna Square, the Koutoubia Mosque, local souks, and palaces. The tour also includes a visit to Gueliz, the modern part of Marrakech, and possibly the Menara Gardens. Overnight accommodation in a hotel with dinner and breakfast is provided.

Day 2Marrakech » Ait Benhaddou » Ouarzazate » Dades Gorges [326 km]

Today, we continue our 10-day journey from Marrakech, crossing the Tizi-n-Tichka pass in the High Atlas Mountains to reach the Ait Ben Haddou kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

We then head to the Roses Valley, famous for its annual “Festival of Roses.” Finally, we arrive at Dades Gorges, where we will stay at a local hotel.

Day 3Dades Gorges » Todra Gorges » Erfoud » Merzouga Sahara [269 km]

Today, we head to the Todra Gorges, where we’ll take a walk through the narrow canyon, a popular spot for hikers. Then, we drive through the Ziz Valley to reach Erfoud, known for its fossils. You can visit a local fossil factory and shop for souvenirs.

Next, we continue to Rissani to explore the local souk, a well-known market in the region. From there, we drive to Merzouga, where our camel ride into the desert begins.

With an experienced guide, we’ll ride camels to a desert camp in Merzouga, spending the night in tents. You’ll enjoy a traditional dinner and Berber music by the campfire—an unforgettable experience.

Day 4 Explore Merzouga desert & visit a nomad family [40 km]

Today, we explored the Merzouga desert. You’ll have the chance to try sandboarding, ski on the dunes, and explore the area in a 4×4.

We’ll visit Khamlia village, known for its music, and enjoy an amazing sunset on the dunes. The night will be spent in Berber tents with local music and a delicious dinner.

Day 5 Merzouga » Erfoud » Ziz Valley » Midelt [263 km]

After watching the sunrise in the desert, we continue our private 10-day trip from Marrakech, riding camels back to the hotel. After breakfast and a shower at the camp, we head to Rissani and Erfoud.

Later, we drive to Midelt in the Atlas Mountains for an overnight stay at a local hotel.

Day 6Midelt » Azrou Cedar forest » Ifrane city » Fes [206 km]

Today, we visit Midelt, then head to Azrou and Ifrane, a well-known ski resort, before continuing to Fes for an overnight stay at a local hotel.

Day 7Fes guided tour

You’ll enjoy a guided tour of Fes, visiting the Ennajarine Fountain, Moulay Idriss Mausoleum, and the Karawiyyin Mosque. The tour also includes stops at the tannery and ceramics cooperative to see traditional crafts. In the afternoon, explore the medina, followed by dinner at a local restaurant. You’ll spend the night in a local riad or hotel.

Day 8Fes » Chefchaouen (The blue pearl) [198 km]

Today, we travel from Fes to Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains, explore the medina, and stay overnight at a local hotel with dinner.

Day 9Chefchaouen » Rabat » Casablanca [339 km]

Later today, we’ll drive to Rabat, the capital, to visit its main attractions before heading to Casablanca, Morocco’s largest city, for an overnight stay.

Day 10Casablanca » Marrakech [241 km]

Today, we’ll explore Casablanca’s key attractions, including the Hassan II Mosque, before heading to Marrakech, where our 10-day trip concludes.

Is this a private tour or with a group?

Yes, it’s a shared tour. You will travel with a small group from around the world.

What should I pack for the tour?

Comfortable clothing and footwear, sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, and a camera are recommended.

Are bathrooms private in the second night hotel?

Yes, they are. Your hotel room will have private ensuite bathrooms.

How long id the camel ride in Erg Chebbi?

It is roughly 1 hour for sunset and another hour for sunrise the following day. Time depends on season, Day light saving time, and sunset/sunrise time.

What if we want to skip the camel ride in Erg Chebbi?

You can. a 4×4 will be offered to transfer you from Merzouga lodge to Erg Chebbi desert camp for an extra fee of 30 Euros ( Included in luxury tent option )

Is sand boarding is included?

There will be a few sand boards available at the camp operator’s lodge to use at leisure ( Availability not guaranteed ). You can ask for one to take to the camp with you. They are free of charge
