Finally, you will cross the High Atlas Mountains, and the Tizi-n-Tichka pass before reaching Marrakech in the afternoon. MOROCCO DESERT TOUR MARRAKECH TO MERZOUGA 3 DAYS ITINERARY

Day 1Fez to Merzouga via Ifran and Azrou

We will pick you up from your accommodation in Fez at 8:00 am to start your journey. The first stop will be Ifran, a winter ski resort built by the French in a Swiss style. Then, we will head to the cedars forest in Azrou to feed the monkeys and enjoy the beautiful nature. Crossing the Atlas Mountains, we will pass through Berber villages, springs, jagged rock faces, and forests. We will stop for lunch in Midelt, known for its fossils and rocks, before continuing toward Merzouga. On the way, we will make panoramic stops to see the vast Palm Trees oasis. Upon arrival in the afternoon, we will rest and have a mint tea before heading out on a camel ride to cross the sandy dunes of the erg-Chebbi to reach the desert camp. The night will be spent in a Berber tent with dinner, a campfire, and traditional music.

Day 2Merzouga to Ouarzazate via Rissani and Todra Gorge

After breakfast, we will depart from Merzouga towards Ouarzazate, traveling along the rugged Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. We will pass through Rissani, a town famous for its traditional souks and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ali Cherif. Our lunch stop will be at Todra Gorge, where we can enjoy a walk and take in the beautiful scenery. We will then travel through the Dadès Valley past dramatic escarpments to reach Ouarzazate in the afternoon for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3Ouarzazate to Marrakech via Ait ben Haddou

After breakfast, we will visit the Kasbah of Taourirt and the Atlas Studios movie studios in Ouarzazate, the largest and most famous in Africa. Next, we will head to the Fint Oasis, near Ouarzazate, before arriving at Ait Ben Haddou to have lunch and visit the famous Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the backdrop for movies such as The Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. We will then pass through the High Atlas and the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, reaching Marrakech in the afternoon to end the tour. We hope you have enjoyed this tour and look forward to hearing from you.

What should I pack for the tour?

Are bathrooms private in the second night hotel?

Yes, they are. Your hotel room will have private ensuite bathrooms.

How long id the camel ride in Erg Chebbi?

It is roughly 1 hour for sunset and another hour for sunrise the following day. Time depends on season, Day light saving time, and sunset/sunrise time.

What if we want to skip the camel ride in Erg Chebbi?

You can. a 4×4 will be offered to transfer you from Merzouga lodge to Erg Chebbi desert camp for an extra fee of 30 Euros ( Included in luxury tent option )

Is sand boarding is included?

There will be a few sand boards available at the camp operator’s lodge to use at leisure ( Availability not guaranteed ). You can ask for one to take to the camp with you. They are free of charge
