Your 5-day desert tour from Fes to Marrakech begins with a pickup from your riad or hotel around 8:30 AM. You’ll embark on an 8-hour journey through the Atlas Mountains to reach the Sahara Desert, home to the Erg Chebbi sand dunes.
Along the way, you’ll make several stops, including the alpine town of Ifrane, Azrou cedar forest to see monkeys, and Midelt for lunch. Enjoy the stunning views of Ziz Valley with its palm trees before continuing to Erg Chebbi.
As you venture deeper into the desert, the dunes will appear unexpectedly. You’ll enjoy dinner and spend the first night in a hotel with a pool at the base of the Erg Chebbi dunes.
Today, we’ll explore the stunning Erg Chebbi desert dunes. You’ll experience the nomadic lifestyle and the desert’s striking contrasts.
Next, we’ll visit the “black village” of Khamlia to enjoy live Gnawa music, followed by a traditional Berber pizza for lunch in Rissani, the ancient capital. In the afternoon, we’ll ride camels to watch the sunset over the dunes and spend the night at a desert camp.
Our evening will feature a traditional tagine dinner, refreshing mint tea, Berber music, and stargazing under the rising moon in the breathtaking Sahara.
We’ll rise early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over Morocco’s tallest sand dunes, casting beautiful colors and shadows before heading back to our desert hotel.
After breakfast, we’ll travel to Tinghir and explore the impressive Todra Gorge, known for its height and narrowness. It’s a fantastic location for hiking, relaxing by the river, and trying local Berber cuisine.
We’ll have lunch in the gorge before driving through Dades Valley, where we’ll spend the night at a charming hotel perched on a mountain.
After breakfast at the hotel, we set off along the Road of 1000 Kasbahs, lined with impressive kasbahs, some restored and others in ruins.
We travel through Dades Valley and ascend via an off-road trail, passing Berber villages and nomads living in caves. We’ll have the opportunity to visit a local family and observe their daily life, primarily focused on tending to goats and sheep.
Next, we’ll admire the stunning landscapes of the Rose Valley before arriving at the Skoura palm grove. After a 45km drive, we’ll reach Ouarzazate for dinner and overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, we’ll explore Taourirt Kasbah, then head to Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Next, we’ll visit the traditional Berber village of Telouet and Kasbah el Glaoui.
Lunch will be at a local restaurant in Telouet before we descend Tizi-n-Tichka to Marrakech, concluding our 5-day desert tour from Fes to Marrakech via the Merzouga Sahara.
