On this 10-day trip through Morocco, from Tangier to Marrakech, you’ll explore some of the country’s most stunning gems. Traveling from north to south, you’ll visit key tourist attractions and discover diverse landscapes, towns, and cities along the way.
You’ll meet your guide at the port or airport to begin your 10-day Morocco trip from Tangier to Marrakech, starting with a journey to Chefchaouen. Along the way, you’ll pass through the stunning Rif Mountains and take in the breathtaking views.
Upon arrival in Chefchaouen, you’ll have a free afternoon to explore this charming blue-and-white town, followed by an overnight stay in a local riad or hotel.
Today, we’ll depart in the morning for Fez, passing through villages in the Rif Mountains. We’ll then visit Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage archaeological site known for its well-preserved Roman ruins.
Next, we’ll head to Meknes to see the famous Bab el-Mansour gates and the Moulay Ismail Tombs. After lunch, we’ll continue to Fez, where we’ll stay overnight in a local Riad in the Medina.
Today, we will explore Morocco’s oldest city, wandering through its alleys and narrow streets. We’ll visit landmarks such as the Royal Palace gate, the historic Jewish quarter, Al Karaouine University, the Tanneries, the Attarine Museum, and the Moulay Idriss mausoleum. We’ll spend the night in the medina.
Today, we pass through Ifrane, a ski resort built by the French in the 1930s to mimic a Swiss village. We drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains, enjoying the scenic forests, rocky landscapes, and Berber villages.
We stop for lunch in Midelt, known for its fossils and apples, then continue to Merzouga via the Ziz Valley and Erfoud, famous for dates. By afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga and stay at a local hotel near the dunes.
Continuing our 10-day trip in Morocco from Tangier, you’ll start the day with a delicious breakfast before exploring the area. Visit the village of Khamlia to meet the Gnawa people and learn about their music and way of life.
Then, we’ll head into the Sahara desert, where we’ll meet nomadic families living in traditional Berber tents made from animal wool.
Lunch will be a local dish, “Berber pizza.” Afterward, we’ll return to the hotel, where a camel awaits you, guided by an experienced camel handler.
The camel ride lasts about 1 hour and 30 minutes, leading to a desert camp where you’ll spend the night amidst the tallest sand dunes, enjoy the sunset, stargaze, and have dinner at the camp.
Your camel guide will wake you early to witness what might be the most stunning sunrise of your life, followed by a peaceful camel trek back to the village.
Along the way, you’ll admire the shifting beauty of the Erg Chebbi dunes, which transform with the changing light throughout the day. After a refreshing breakfast and shower at the Riad, you’ll head to Rissani, Tinghir, and the impressive Todra Gorges—Morocco’s highest and narrowest canyons.
After lunch in the gorge, we’ll continue through the Dades Valley, where you’ll encounter majestic sand castles and fascinating rock formations called “monkey toes.” You’ll spend the night in a traditional guest house, with dinner and breakfast included.
After breakfast at the hotel, you’ll travel through the Dades Valley towards Kalaa M’gouna and Ouarzazate. This scenic route, known as the “way of a thousand Kasbahs,” offers plenty of photo opportunities.
Along the way, you’ll meet Berber Nomads in their caves and enjoy the lush Rose Valley and unique rock formations. A stop at Kalaat M’gouna, the “rose city,” will give you the chance to buy rosewater, a fragrant reminder of your journey.
Next, visit the well-preserved Kasbah Amridil in Skoura’s bird valley, before arriving in Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” where you’ll spend the night in a local hotel or Riad.
Today, we’ll head to Marrakech, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities. Along the way, we’ll stop briefly to see or photograph the Ouarzazate movie studios and visit the historic Aït Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Continuing on, we’ll cross the highest road pass in North Africa, arriving in Marrakech by the afternoon.
Your local guide will meet you at your hotel or riad around 9 AM to begin exploring the main attractions of Marrakech, including the Koutoubia Mosque, Saadian Tombs, El Bahia Palace, Djemaa el Fna square, and its souk.
After lunch, we’ll drive you to visit the Majorelle Garden, and then return you to your hotel.
Your departure today will depend on your flight schedule. You will be transferred to the airport for your flight, marking the end of your 10-day Morocco trip from Tangier to Marrakech.
